Summit Team

During early 2004 adverts were placed is Scottish Scout News and Scout halls around Scotland for interested Scouts and Scouters to apply for the chance to be part of an expedition to Mt Everest with the Scottish Scouts Mountaineering Group. The expedition is part of their Seven Summits challenge and timed to help Scottish Scouting celebrate the centenary of world scouting by summiting the highest mountain in the world.

2 selection/information weekends were held at Meggernie Scout centre in Glen Lyon during August and September of 2004. Following these weekends 3 scouters accepted their invitations to join the expedition group. Unfortunately 1 of them later withdrew his application due to other commitments which left Keith Armour, a commisioner from Midlothian, and Carrie Gibson, a scout leader from Inverkip, as the summit team.
